Fairy Glen, Betws-y-Coed, North Wales, November 2025
Fairy Glen is a steep, mossy gorge on the Afon Conwy just south of Betws-y-Coed in Snowdonia, where the river narrows and drops through a ravine draped in oak, beech and ferns. A short but atmospheric path descends through ancient woodland to the water's edge, past mossy boulders and fallen timber, with the gorge walls closing in overhead.
A November morning visit caught low autumn sun breaking through the canopy in dramatic shafts of light across the gorge, with mist still clinging to the valley below. A curious robin posed on mossy branches beside the path, while the river tumbled golden-lit over moss-covered rocks.
