Dartmoor, Devon, 2026
Dartmoor's granite tors and open moorland, from low-angle views of weathered rock formations and the isolated church at Brentor, to wild ponies grazing among the boulders and aerial views taking in the scale of the landscape from above.
Everything here was shot on one day in early March 2026, and the weather kept changing: clear blue sky over the granite in some frames, low mist and storm cloud in others.
On the moor's western edge, the church of St Michael de Rupe has stood on top of Brent Tor since the twelfth century. It is striking from the lane below and even more so from the drone, which shows just how exposed the tor is. Elsewhere the set turns to detail: hawthorns rooted in split boulders, cracks in the weathered granite, and the ponies, from a windswept mane to a close portrait in the grass. It finishes in the woods, where a waterfall runs past the ruins of an old mill.
