Petersfield Heath Pond, Hampshire, 2026
The pond on Petersfield Heath is a reliable spot for a wide spread of birdlife in a small space: greylag and Egyptian geese, a coot, a dunnock, house sparrows, mallards (one drinking, one preening, one reflected in ice), a black-headed gull perched on a rope, and a grey squirrel on a nearby tree trunk, all rounded off with a still dusk reflection across the water.
