Old Winchester Hill, Hampshire, 2026

An early start at Old Winchester Hill caught the valley below in a proper temperature-inversion fog: farm buildings and a lone tree emerging from the blanket of cloud, sunbeams breaking through frosty woodland, and rolling hills in bands of mist under a rising sun. Roe deer were out in the same golden light, along with grazing sheep silhouetted against the fog-filled treeline.
